■ General overview

The PQ1 Power Quality Sensor detects power quality problems in commercial power. It is a 1Φ measurement electrical quality sensor that measures Φ-Φ and Φ-N in a 3Φ power system.

The PQ1 dramatically reduces the number of troubleshooting services in other types of complex systems, such as network equipment, computer centers, automated production systems, semiconductor equipment, medical equipment, elevator control, aviation, and navigation systems, at a price less than 1/10 of the existing electricity quality meter. This can contribute to cost savings.

It is the world's most advanced ultra-small relay-type electrical quality sensor that allows the user to select one monitoring mode from among the programmed depth/duration for 16 industrial standards of Voltage Sag/Swell, High-Frequency Impulse, and Power Interruption.

■ Status display and initialization
When an electricity quality event occurs, the red LED blinks for 3 seconds, and if the event lasts more than 3 seconds, it blinks longer. The yellow LED, “event log”, stays on when on. PQ1 records the status of yellow LED, which is “event record”, even in case of momentary power failure. To reset the yellow LED that is “event log”, press the clear button. Also, the clear button confirms the operating voltage and frequency again.
■ Check whether normal operation
If you keep pressing the clear button for 1 second, PQ1 will generate 4 types of electricity quality events. While the corresponding event LED is on, the contact of each relay is open. After the test, PQ1 automatically resets all events and checks the operating voltage and frequency again. This is to check whether PQ1 is operating normally when an electrical quality event is detected.

■ Operating voltage selection
(-) Select the operating voltage with the screwdriver. When voltage is applied to PQ1, check whether PQ1 is within 30% of the operating voltage. When the excess voltage is applied, the red LED to indicate the correction of the operating voltage blinks. The occurrence of electrical quality events is based on % of the operating voltage selection value. The following is the selectable voltage for the monitorable operation.
 ☞ 100V, 110V, 120V, 200V, 208V, 220V, 230V, 240V.

■ Automatic selection of operating frequency
When AC power is applied to PQ1, the operating frequency is automatically detected. If the correct operating frequency is found among 50Hz, 60Hz, and 400Hz, the green indicator on the display panel will blink at the corresponding frequency.

■ Selection of electrical quality event criteria
Select “magnitude-elapsed time” to select the criteria for monitoring swell (instant voltage rise), minor sag (small instantaneous voltage drop), and major sag (large instantaneous voltage drop) in PQ1. Impulse is the same for all criteria. If the selection criteria are not clear, just select "Standard".


■ Power and relay contact connection
Connect a voltage of 100Vrms to 240Vrms between phase-to-neutral and phase-to-phase to the AC power terminal. PQ1 has the following 3 pairs of normally-closed dry relay contacts; [Swell / Impulse, Minor Sag, Major Sag]. When an electrical quality event occurs, the contact opens for at least 3 seconds and closes again at the end of the event. The maximum allowable characteristics of the relay are 30Vdc max, 300mA max.
The user utilizes 3 pairs of relay contacts to connect to the control relay, trigger an alarm,
It is also possible to apply a reset signal to the EMO circuit by applying an input to the computer monitoring system.

Monitoring Mode of PQ Sensor

PQ Sensor of US PSL, which holds 24 technology patents in related fields, has obtained approvals such as UL, VDE, GS, CE, etc.

and supports all 16 major monitoring modes recognized in the following international technical standards.

The setting values of Impulse, Swell, Minor sag and Major sag for Depth-Duration Threshold for event occurrence of 16 internationally recognized monitoring modes are displayed as “percentage of normal voltage and time interval” as follows.
